The city of Chanhassen is offering residents the opportunity to adopt a city park this spring. Service and community groups, families and individuals are invited to adopt a park for a day and clean it up.

As of March 16, the Chanhassen Skate Park is open. The park will be unsupervised until after Memorial Day, where it will then be staffed through mid-August.

The park was installed in September of 1999. It is located between City Hall and the downtown fire station. A new hockey/in-line skating rink is also located on this site. Skateboards, bicycles, and in-line skates are welcome at this facility.

Herbs have been known to provide human beings a lot of benefits. There are hundreds of herb varieties and each of them has its own unique benefit. The most popular among the different herbal benefits is the medicinal effect that each herb can give an individual. There are those that can cure common colds, cough and flu, and even a few complicated diseases. Some herbs are also good for beauty treatments like some working as moisturizers, hair grower, dandruff remover, etc. Herbs are also getting more popular in the culinary world.

With rare brevity and unanimity Monday night, the Chanhassen City Council breezed through a light city council agenda, passing all items on the consent agenda and making appointments to several city commissions.

The Chanhassen City Council is expected on Monday night to approve without any discussion plans and specifications for the Audubon Road reconstruction project and authorize an advertisement for bids for it; approve plans and specifications and authorize an ad for bids for the Erie Avenue street improvement project; approve a joint powers agreement for 2010 sealcoating projects; approve amendments to Chanhassen Gateway and SouthWest Villager PUD agreements; and approve a resolution accepting a $2,000 donation from Klein Bank Chanhassen for the Summer Concert Series.

The city of Chanhassen was awarded $1 million worth of federal funds through the Metropolitan Council for construction of a Highway 5-Minnewashta Parkway underpass and $900,000 more to make road repairs at Highway 5-Minnewashta Parkway and Lone Cedar Lane. The city expects construction to break ground in 2012, said City Engineer Paul Oehme.

Subject: Channel Updates

Dear Community Official:

Just days after the city began taking registration forms (March 1) for community garden plots, the garden is full. A waiting list has begun at Chanhassen City Hall.

That was an amazing short course program by Rochette given the circumstances of her mother's death. That would be great if she gets bronze.

Hard to know with the judges though. Seems like everyone is slotted before the competition. I didn't think the Canadian team should have won the gold in ice dancing. Performance seemed routine compared to some others.  

Brian Recker, Vice President of RJM Construction, gave a brief presentation Monday night regarding the new $7.9 million Chanhassen Public Works building construction and project close out.

It came in under budget. The original building construction budget that was approved last year was $8.3 million.
