Blanche M. Schutrop

Blanche Margaret Schutrop, 89, of Chanhassen, Minn., died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo, Minn.

Blanche was born May 30, 1919 in Victoria, Minn., to Anton and Nellie (Snicker) Aretz, one of three children. She was born and raised on a farm in Laketown Township, Carver County. She was baptized, confirmed and attended the parochial school at St. Victoria Catholic Church, Victoria. On Nov. 19, 1940, Blanche married Ivo G. Schutrop at St. Victoria Catholic Church. They had two children. She has been a longtime resident of Chanhassen, and a member of St. Hubert Catholic Community. She had been employed at Chanhassen Furniture Store for 20 years restoring furniture. She was a member of the Lady Franciscans and was involved in Homebound Ministry for 17 years. Blanche loved her family and was very active in church activities. Her husband Ivo died in 1998.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivo; son, Gerald; son-in-law, Gilbert Bullert; great grandson, Michael; brothers, Anthony and Herbert Aretz; and sister-in-law, Rosella Otto.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann Bullert, of Buffalo; grandchildren, Joe Bullert, of Buffalo, John and Candy Bullert, of Big Lake, Nancy and Steve Eklund, of Lakeville, Susan and John Volden, of Hanover; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Aretz, of Victoria.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Community, 8201 Main Street, Chanhassen, with Father Dennis Backer celebrating. Casketbearers were Steve Eklund, John Volden, Becca Bullert, Dan Eklund, Garrett Bullert, and Jacob Eklund. Honorary casketbearers were the Homebound Ministry. Burial was at St. Hubert’s Catholic Cemetery, Chanhassen.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska, Minn.
