Chapel Hill students score above grade level
June 10, 2008 - 11:15am — FAdams
CHANHASSEN, MN – JUNE 9, 2008 -- Students at Chapel Hill Academy in Chanhassen performed on average one to five years above grade level on the Stanford Achievement Test (SAT), a national standardized test administered to the school’s first through eighth graders in April. The test results show that the mean or average student at Chapel Hill performed well above grade level on a national scale, with the average eighth grader testing at a post high school level. The median grade average for CHA’s first and second graders was 1.1 years above grade level. The school’s third and fourth graders performed 2.7 and 3.5 years above grade level respectively. CHA students in fifth through seventh grades tested between 3.8 and 4.2 years above grade level. “Another way of summarizing the SAT results,” says CHA Head Administrator Kathy Tweeten, “is that the average student at CHA ranks in about the 80 percentile nationally.” Not to be confused with the SAT Reasoning Test, a test administered by the College Board for use in college admissions, the Stanford Achievement Test Series is one of the leading standardized achievement tests utilized by both public and private schools in the United States for assessing the academic knowledge of children from kindergarten through high school. The test is available in 13 levels that roughly correspond to the year in school. Each level of the test is broken into subtests or strands covering various subjects such as reading comprehension, mathematical problem solving, and science. “We are proud of our students’ achievements on these tests,” says Tweeten, “because they demonstrate the high quality of the education our teachers provide to our students every day at Chapel Hill. Yearly testing helps us ensure that we are delivering the exceptional, affordable Christian education that parents have expected from Chapel Hill for 38 years.” Chapel Hill Academy is a biblically-based academic institution serving Christian families with children from kindergarten through eighth grade. The school is located at 306 West 78th Street in Chanhassen. For more information, call 952-949-9014, email info@chapel-hill.org or visit the CHA website at www.chapel-hill.org.
