About 300 people attended the Barkus dog parade in City Center Park on Aug. 9 guessed the assistant branch manager of the Chanhassen library.
She further estimated that about 30 dogs and dog owners participated in the event, to the delight of the crowd.
“People loved it,” Kathy Perschmann remarked.
The parade, which is presented annually by Friends of the Library, began at approximately 10 a.m. Birthday cake was served afterward to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the new Chanhassen Library building.
The parade was followed by a visit from the Teddy Bear Band at 11:30 a.m. Senior Center members sold hot dogs, chips and lemonade from 11 to 12:30 p.m. as a fund-raiser for the Senior Center.
