Chanhassen has built it, and the team is coming.
The Chanhassen Red Birds geared up for their first amateur baseball season with a gathering of club officials and city leaders on Friday afternoon at Chanhassen High School.
The ballclub unveiled its team logo, uniform and cap, and introduced its manager and mascot.
Chris Reuvers, Chanhassen's first manager, said the team is already off to a great start, even two months before the season-opener.
"I've never seen a team have such community support and a start like this," Reuvers said.

As good as the state 2A semifinal between Minnetonka and Hill-Murray was, somebody had to win it.
Minnetonka's Erik Baskin put the biscuit in the Pioneers' basket in the fourth overtime session to win the state Class 2A semifinal 2-1.
The Skippers appeared to win the game in the second overtime session, but a centering pass was ruled to go in off a Skipper skate.
The game was tied since late in the first period at the Xcel Energy Center.
Minnetonka finally got to the state Class 2A boys hockey championship game, getting past Hill-Murray 2-1 in four overtime sessions at the Xcel Energy Center. The Skippers face Edina at 7 p.m. tonight at the Xcel Energy Center. Story here.

The last time Minnetonka boys hockey team skated at the Xcel Energy Center, the Skippers skated away with the Schwan Cup Gold division championship trophy.
Minnetonka finished the Section 6AA boys hockey final with a flourish, overwhelming Eden Prairie with four third-period goals for a 7-2 victory on Wednesday evening at Target Center.

The Section 6AA swim finals on Saturday at Edina produced a lot of fast times and a bevy of state swimmers.

The Chaska-Chanhassen varsity hockey team honored the Red Bulls 34th Infantry division of the National Guard on Saturday at Vicoria Arena.
The Red Bulls recently returned from a year-long deployment to Iraq, and the guard members and their families were guests at the game.
