JT Bruett, Director of Athletic Compliance at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, will talk about NCAA eligibility requirements, descriptions of division athletics, and action items for juniors and seniors as they explore their post-high school options. Bruett emphasizes that his priority is to help student athletes “find the right fit” for their athletic and academic pursuits. The workshop is geared toward students in grades 10 through 12.
Bruett has been director of compliance since 2007, following six years as the associate director. He played varsity baseball at the U of M and professional baseball for eight years with the Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals. He was an assistant baseball coach at the University of Illinois-Chicago.
Phillip Trout, college counselor at MHS, will provide additional information about admission requirements and application timetables at Division I, II and III colleges and universities.
The workshop is hosted by the Athletic and Guidance Departments at Minnetonka High School. It is free and open to the public.

Southwest Newspapers’ weekly community papers have histories that go as far back as the Civil War era. Several were started from scratch as our communities began to grow in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. These popular newspapers routinely win awards of excellence from organizations like the Minnesota Newspaper Association.
